My second time here, excellent food and service from William in the bar area. This place is a hidden gem, the name does it no service, and from the outside its hard to tell that it's a restaurant, but excellent food and service here!

First of all I need to say that the only reason I went here was because my cat is named Minerva. I had drinks and dessert with my fiancé and it was very pleasant. The drinks were good, not great, and dessert was also good. We both tried beverages off the specialty menu, one fruity and one whiskey, but neither really knocked our socks off. We had a brownie, with ice cream in a mason jar for dessert and it was pretty good. All the ice cream was at the bottom, and hard to get to, so it was difficult to get everything in one bite. It was warm and gooey though. I would try dinner here, it seemed like a solid place.

This place is awesome, the only complaint I have is that the text needs to be much bigger. It was really hard to read, I had to squint, and I still couldn't read it. It would be really nice if the owner would buy a much larger television to view graphics on. Asa would agree.

I would've given this place 0 stars if that were an option. The waitress was absent and rude. Never checked on us once. They brought us the wrong bottle of wine and told us it was $15/bottle and charged us $45 (we didn't like it at all so couldn't even drink it). The waitress never brought us a bread basket (everyone else in the restaurant had one) and when we asked for it she said, "just go get some at the salad bar." It took 45 minutes to get our food and when it arrived it looked terrible. My husband ordered the steak Oscar...very little sauce that was way too thick on top of a crab cake and a piece of shrimp on top...never seen a steak Oscar like that before...baked potato was dry and skimpy with toppings. My crispy chicken with Parmesan risotto was inedible. The chicken was burnt and it must've been sitting in the window so long that the crispy was nonexistent. The risotto was so disgusting that I had to spit it in my napkin. It tasted more like household cleaners than Parmesan. While we waited for our waitress to check back and see how we liked things and if we needed anything (sour cream for baked potato) my husband chocked down his steak and I ate salad from the salad bar. 20 minutes later I spotted our waitress and flagged her down to get our bill so I could go get a pizza... Highly disappointed!!!

Last night, Monday, August 10, my wife and I dined at Minerva's in Rapid City, SD. We had a marvelous experience. We both ordered the Buffalo Burger - a good choice, as the burger was cooked to perfection (medium rare), thick, juicy and even a little sweet. Combined with a fresh, toasted, delicious bakery bun - it was fabulous. Two burgers turned into a feast. On top of the off-the-charts meal, Gala, our server, Gala, was great. Our first time in Rapid City, SD, we asked Gala for some ideas of what to/see. Gala conjures up a city map and starts high-lighting places to go, e.g., Prairie Edge, Main Street Square and the downtown area. Guess what we did today? And we had fun! Thanks, Gala!

If you are stuck in the middle of nowhere like Rapid City,SD, its good to know that theres a place like Minerva's to grab a drink and dinner! They made me feel right at home, and the food was top notch!

I took a party of 12 last weekend (including 6 teenage girls in ridiculous dresses and paper mustaches), and we had a wonderful time! The food was excellent, and our server (I wish I would have caught her name) was terrific. She was very organized and friendly, and she pulled it off without a hitch. Also, a big shout-out to Taylor, who delivered our room service the next morning. Anyone who's that cheerful that early while carrying a tray that heavy deserves a raise! The food was slightly overpriced, in my opinion, but delivery was accurate, prompt, and attractive.

Bad service, worse food - & I say this after 3 visits. If you like being ignored, eating mediocre food that tastes like dish soap and frankly makes the Olive Garden look like a Michelin Star rated restaurant, then sure! Come on in! Otherwise, maybe keep driving...

The food was fantastic, particularly the tasso cheddar grits. However, our service was pretty bad. It started at the hostess stand, where we walked up and waited to be acknowledged by the woman standing behind it. After waiting about 30 seconds with no acknowledgement, I asked her if this was the hostess stand and she finally acknowledged me and said it was. Pause, pause. I then asked her if we could get a table. She appeared very frazzled, and it took her another couple minutes to figure out where to seat us. She was wearing a server's uniform, so I'm hoping this occurred because she doesn't typically seat people. Unfortunately, things got worse once we were seated. It took over 10 minutes for our server to show up at our table (the restaurant was not busy at all), and she took our drink orders. The drinks took another 10 minutes to get here--water and beer, not too difficult. The incorrect beer was brought to the table, but was corrected when the server returned about 10 minutes after that to finally take our meal orders. After taking our orders, she said she would bring the bread service. The bread service never arrived. It took about 25 minutes after ordering the food for our salads to get to the table. Literally, less than two minutes after getting our salads, the entrees arrived. Seriously?! That is beyond obnoxious. We didn't see our server again for another 25 minutes--she never asked about the food or checked in or anything like that. Very odd. When she came back, she told us she needed to go outside and get some air for a few minutes. Hmmm, okay...She came back 15 minutes after her "break" and we were then able to order dessert. Because the food was so good, I'm giving this place three stars, and I'm hoping that this poor service was just a fluke, because we really enjoyed the atmosphere and food.

Seemed to have completed changed...NOT for the better. Last time we ordered we got our food to-go. The lettuce wraps that were a favorite came pre-configured with three little wraps. The pasta we ordered was upwards of $18 and had enough to serve a toddler (if that) and when we asked if this was how much came if we were to sit down and eat they said "yes this is the size of all our pasta dishes"... We will NOT be returning.

This review is for the bar and the awesome bartender Todd. I came here after getting a cheesesteak at Ted's. I wanted to watch the England vs. Italy game and definitely needed a beer so decided to sneak some food into this bar. Sat down and start watching the game and looking at what's on tap. Todd comes up and offers some samples of the summer seasonals they have. I get the New Belgium Summer Helles oh and it's happy hour, sweet! So I then ask if I can eat my cheesesteak and hes completely cool with it and even gets me a plate and some silverware. Best part though is when I start eating, a couple of other local guys see me and yell over "That looks like a Steeler!" Oh the bar as stated by Nate W. really is wonderful, dark wood and stylish.

We are visiting the area and were recommended by the front desk of the Hampton. The wait staff was very friendly and knowledgeable. The atmosphere could not be nicer. The resturant feels like a five star resturant without the five star prices. We split 3 meals between the 3 of us to try different dishes. They were the Canadian Crusted Walleye, Steak Tips, and the special (Swedish Meatballs). All 3 dishes surpassed out expectations. We highly recommend splitting and sampling the dishes the way we did. The Walleye was moist and the breading light and crisply, not oily. The steak tips were very flavorful and the Swedish meatballs were very generous. The salad bar looked very intriguing, however we decided to order the house salad with the meal instead of spending the extra few dollars for the salad bar. That decision was the best. The house salad is very gourmet, complete with peppers, gouda cheese, and thin sliced salami? We would have never constructed as tasty of a salad if we chose the salad bar. We were too full to try dessert, but would highly recommend Minervas to anyone visiting in the area.

A salad bar which puts 99% of salad bars on Earth to shame. Good enough to get 5 stars from me. Very nice high end atmosphere and service adds on. Nice beer selection too.

This restaurant is horribly overpriced. You'd think you were dining at a 5 star steak house in NY for the prices they have here. We ate here once to try the food and it was not even that good. We sent one of our meals back to the kitchen. However, if you sit in the bar area for happy hour, their pizzas are pretty good and it's a fun atmosphere. Just stay away from the restaurant portion. Service was terrible in the restaurant but great in the bar.

We have been here twice for dinner, once with a group of 8 including a child and the with just the two of us. Both times the food and the service were excellent. We have had PESTO FUSILLI, PORK TENDERLOIN MARSALA, SEAFOOD RISOTTO, and CANADIAN WALLEYE all of them were very good. I will be going back.

this is a great place to go for a nice, sit down meal. it's a little pricey on the restaurant side, but the bar is cheaper and tasty.

It's ok. I had sirloin but really expensive ! Seriously understaffed and I felt sorry for the poor overworked woman helping us. I felt guilty asking her for more water, etc... She seemed like she was one broken dish away from a breakdown...

Minervas, Minervas, Minervas . . . . I have been dragged here for brunch a few times. I have been very disappointed each time. If you are looking for a cafeteria style brunch this is your place, but Golden Corral is up the road so why not pay half the money if your looking for a cafeteria brunch? The wait staff is also non-existent during brunch so make sure you order everything you want the first time you see them, because they won't be back. Sorry Minervas you've just failed me one too many times.

Stayed at the HGI across the street and the bartender there recommended Minervas. It was awesome. We were a little nervous at first because it is connected to a Best Western hotel and I've never known "lobby restaurants" to be that great. Well even though this place is adjoined to the hotel, I don't think they have anything to do with each other. We sat at the bar and a friendly female bartender took great care of us. They have 18 beers on tap, and each one was AMAZING. Ok I didn't try all 18 even though I may have tried, but the selection is terrific. I ordered the Napoli pizza and it was delicious. Perfect blend of flavors and it was cooked perfectly. The pizzas are apparently only on the bar menu, but they were glad to serve it to me even though it was dinner time. Coworkers got the porterhouse which looked great, the fried calamari which looked amazing, and some sort of chicken salad with coated pecans and bleu cheese which he said was the best he'd had. We were so incredibly pleased with this place. I would highly recommend it to anybody. The ONLY reason for 4 instead of 5 stars is the venue itself. Like I said it is connected to a hotel (on one side), and on the other side it is connected to what looks like an event facility (weddings and whatnot). The bathroom for Minervas was in the event area, so it was kind of a pain to walk a ways a find it. If this was a free standing restaurant without the confusion of the hotel and event place, it would rock 5 stars all day long! If I am ever in town again I am here!

Minerva's used to be my all-time favorite restaurant. I'd spend forever scouring the menu, because I love to try new things. However, in the end I'd always end up getting the same thing--Pecan Crusted Salmon. It was just too good to not get every time. The service at Minerva's is hit-and-miss. If it's slow, you'll hopefully be attended to satisfactorily, but it's busy, I wouldn't say a prayer. Somehow my water glass always stays empty for long periods of time, even though there are people who's only job is to fill up water. They have a piano, but only once have I seen an actual pianist playing on it. Unfortunately, Minerva's has taken Pecan Crusted Salmon off it's menu (naturally, I am devastated), so I won't be returning any time soon, nor is it my favorite restaurant.

We ate here while on vacation. I had the potato encrusted walleye, my son had spaghetti with tomato sauce (small portion). My fish was dry and came on top of way too many over cooked carrots and a few pieces of asparagus. Yuck. The waitress had said walleye would be, "over the top." Also, I would like to add I got charged $15 for spaghetti with tomato sauce. Go elsewhere.

I travelled to Rapid City on business. A few weeks ago, I was in Sioux City, and had the Minerva's salad bar for lunch. The venue was odd to be attached to the Best Western, but the inside of the restaurant was top notch. I had their seasonal squash soup, and firecracker shrimp. Delicious!

Stayed at the Best Western here, got in late so stayed at this on site restaurant for drinks and dinner. Great Happy hour deals at two separate times: 3-6 and 9-11. $2 Draft beers and well drinks (decent selection), $3 house wines, happy hour food prices as well ($5 for medium sized pizza). You can get the full restaurant menu in the bar, and we chose to eat in bar because it was more lively/fun atmosphere. Our waitress was great, even though they were very busy. We had the Buffalo Burger with chive and horseradish cheese and split a steak and asparagus salad. Salad and steak was delicious, but I've had better bison burgers (a bit dry and overcooked). Had two entrees, and 5 drinks for $40. Can't beat that! Pizza's looked really good, would try those at another time if in the area.

I thought the porterhouse here was absolutely fantastic! If I ever make a trip back to SD, definitely stopping back here.

We stopped by Best Western just to get out of the rain and rest up a nite before sightseeing around the area. Best stop ever. We were able to walk from the hotel lobby into the restaurant. First look was a pleasant surprise. The second was the caliber of the food. Great. We stayed two nights and ate at Minervas three times. The dinner each night was wonderful. Service great. We had breakfast ok. We chose to eat elsewhere second day. But for anyone passing by or even if you live there - go to dinner... You will love it.

The sirloin I had here was incredible- I wasn't big on eating steak before I ate at Minerva's, but this place made me a believer. I am definitely going back any time I'm in Rapid City.

Hmmm. Minerva's has two different areas of its restaurant. The restaurant proper and the bar. I have to state that the bar is WONDERFUL. It's dark wood and fabulously comfy booths with oil candles on the tables. The restaurant itself, I am not impressed with. Neither the atmosphere or food works for me, and it's expensive. However, the bar during happy hour is extremely busy and a fun place to hang. Why? They have some of the best mini pizzas in town. For under $5 you can get what is about a medium sized pizza (they're half off during happy hour). Perfect for one extremely hungry person or split between two. They run this special twice a day, once at happy hour then again after 9:00 p.m. Ideal for college kids and budget-watchers. That's the ONLY reason I come here, for Friday happy hours if I'm in a pizza mood. The white sauce-garlic shrimp pizza (hint: get extra cheese, they're generous here) is the bomb. The crust is thin, slightly crisp, and a little chewy. The sauce is light and buttery. The pizza is oblong, not round, and served on wooden board platters. Downside: it's CRAZY BUSY after about 4:30 and you have to sit up at the bar which is always crowded. If you're wanting to hit this place for some cheap, yummy happy hour pizzas, then come really early, seriously like 3:30 and get a booth (biggest booths I've ever seen). I wouldn't recommend any of the other food on the bar menu, just the pizzas. Obviously, the bar isn't kid-friendly. And this place can get quite loud.
